Frequently Asked Questions
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is a holistic and bio-individual approach to nutrition and lifestyle. The Nutritional Therapy process is one in which the client and Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) co-create a personalized nutrition plan based on the client’s needs, as gathered from a variety of proven assessment tools. The goal of Nutritional Therapy is to empower the client to support their health goals with bio-individual nutritional tools.
What is health and wellness coaching?
Health and wellness coaching is a collaborative process between the coach and client to work towards the client’s health goals. The process centers around identifying and clarifying the clients’ health and wellness vision and goals. We then proceed to create actionable, measurable steps toward achieving those goals in service of the client’s broader vision of optimal health.
How long is the nutritional therapy or health coaching process?
It is recommended that a client commit to 12 weeks (3 months) of the Nutritional Therapy or Health Coaching Process in order to fully create a meaningful plan and integrate their learning into their life. Going through both processes simultaneously can be helpful in fully forming new nutrition and lifestyle habits. This is why we created the Flourishing Traditions 12 Weeks to Thriving Health Program to fully support you through personalized nutrition planning as well as coaching during this timeframe.
What are my results going to be?
While our practitioners are trained in helping you to develop your personal recipe for success, and will offer all of the support we can through the Nutritional Therapy and Coaching relationships, your results will ultimately be determined by your passion and dedication for working toward that co-created wellness plan. We can help to make the map clear and walk beside you on your journey, but only you can take the steps along the path toward thriving health.
Are Flourishing Traditions practitioners doctors?
While our practitioners are trained and certified in the fields of Nutritional Therapy and Health Coaching, we are not licensed medical doctors, and do not diagnose, prescribe, or treat any illness. As such, you should always consult your licensed and credentialed functional medicine physician before embarking on the dietary and lifestyle changes discussed in your nutritional therapy and health coaching sessions.
Can Flourishing Traditions practitioners order labs and interpret bloodwork?
Ordering and Interpreting lab results is outside of the scope of practice of both Nutritional Therapists and Health Coaches. While we can help you to address your own health concerns raised by your doctor’s lab interpretations through the Nutritional Therapy and Health Coaching processes, we cannot directly interpret and make recommendations based on lab results.
